Every Decksmith project runs the same way — no surprises, fixed price, one job at a time. Here’s exactly what happens from your first message to handover.
1. Site visit
Greg comes to you — discusses design and finishes, measures up, and checks site conditions in person. Quotes are rarely given off photos or plans alone; a live site visit means no surprises turn up once work starts.
2. Fixed-price proposal
Quotes are put together over the weekend and are usually with you by the Sunday following your site visit. It’s a fixed price for the finished job, not an estimate — the scope is worked out properly upfront so there are no variations sprung on you later.
3. Lock it in with a 10% deposit
A 10% deposit (the maximum allowed for building work in NSW) secures your spot. The Decksmith only runs one project at a time and only takes on jobs it can deliver properly, so bookings are first-in, best-dressed. Typical lead time from deposit to start is around 3 weeks.
4. Start date
Work starts Monday morning wherever possible.
5. The build
On-site hours are 7am–3pm, Monday to Friday. Most decks take 4–5 days depending on size and scope — composite installs generally faster than timber, replacements faster than new builds. The site is left clean and tidy at the end of every single day, with all rubbish and demolition material cleared as the job progresses.
6. Handover
You get a clean, turnkey deck ready to use, plus maintenance and warranty documentation. Most clients leave a Google review at this point — and a handshake.
